Looking to get my Tech license and wondering what study methods worked best for others here. I'm planning to study 20-30 hours total and can commit about 30 minutes per day. Should I focus on memorizing the question pool or understanding the theory?

I've heard mixed opinions about HamStudy.org vs the ARRL manual vs KB6NU's free study guide. Any recommendations?

Start with understanding rather than memorizing! Basic electronics knowledge like Ohm's law and circuit concepts will help you understand why the answers are correct. Once you grasp the fundamentals, the memorization becomes much easier.

Take practice tests regularly - they show exactly where you need to improve. I used HamStudy.org's adaptive testing and passed easily. Focus extra study time on your weak areas rather than reviewing what you already know.

Join a local study group if possible - collaborating with others preparing for the same exam provides new insights. Plus you'll meet fellow hams and get a start in the community before you're even licensed!
