so ive been on the air more than usual this past few weeks, mostly just scanning around 40m in the evenings and honestly just enjoying the band noise. not really chasing DX or anything, just kind of... listening. picked up a few ragchews with some guys in the midwest and one guy in ontario who had a really nice signal. its weird how sometimes just sitting there with a cup of coffee and the rig on is enough you know

anybody else go through phases like this where youre not really trying to accomplish anything just kind of hanging around the bands

yeah absolutely, 40m at night is just different. theres something about the way the band opens up after dark, you get all this activity coming in from everywhere and half the time im not even logging just listening to some old timer talk about his antenna farm for 20 minutes. its honestly meditative in a weird way. had one of those nights last week actually, ended up on there til almost midnight just chatting with a guy in tennessee about his dipole setup.

this is exactly why i got my ticket lol. nobody tells you that just listening is half the hobby. i was so focused on passing the test and getting on the air that i didnt realize how much of it is just... vibing honestly
