anyone else just sit and listen on 40m for no reason

so i had like an hour to kill last night and just threw on the headphones and tuned around 40 meters not really trying to work anybody just listening. caught some guys doing a roundtable out of the midwest somewhere, couldnt quite make out the third op but the other two were loud and clear. anyway it reminded me why i got into this hobby in the first place, theres just something about picking up a conversation happening hundreds of miles away that never really gets old for me. anybody else do this or am i just weird

nah you're not weird, i do this all the time especially on nights when the band is just opening up nice. 40 is great for that kind of thing around sunset. sometimes i'll just park on a frequency and just see whats drifting through. caught a maritime mobile once that way which was cool, guy was somewhere in the gulf i think.

yeah i do this but usually on 80 because thats where all the old timers in my area hang out and honestly the conversations are way more interesting than anything on 40 lol. though the noise floor on 80 at my qth is pretty rough lately not sure whats changed
