ok so ive been studying the band plan stuff and i thought i understood it but now im second guessing myself. i just upgraded from tech to general last month and im trying to figure out where i can actually transmit on 40 meters. like i know generals dont get the whole band but the chart in the handbook is kind of confusing to me, theres like phone and cw segments and then the voice portion seems different depending on whether youre in ITU region 1 or whatever.
also somebody on the repeater mentioned something about staying away from the band edges and i didnt really understand why. like if 40m phone starts at 7.175 for generals, can i just park right there at 7.175 or is that a bad idea for some reason? i dont want to step on anyone or cause problems, just trying to understand the etiquette i guess
