so i was scrolling through the usual spots this morning and saw that Icom apparently dropped some info about a new rig, cant remember if it was at a hamfest or just an announcement but people on one of the facebook groups were going nuts about it. anyone have actual details? i didnt dig too deep into it yet.

also completely separate thing but has anyone else noticed 10 meters has been absolutely bonkers the last few weeks? i worked like 6 or 7 new countries last weekend just sitting at the desk with my dipole, nothing fancy. solar flux has been up there and honestly i havent seen conditions like this since i got back into the hobby a few years ago. if you havent been on HF lately and you have any kind of antenna at all just get on there, you might be surprised.

there was also something going around about a big ARRL rule change or policy thing but i honestly couldnt follow what the argument was even about, something with vanity calls or licensing maybe? anyone know what thats actually referring to

yeah the Icom thing i think you're talking about is the IC-7760 or whatever they're calling it, the one with the detachable head unit setup. saw a video from one of the guys who got a hands on at a show overseas somewhere. looked pretty slick honestly but im not dropping that kind of money anytime soon, my 7300 is still doing everything i need it to do.

and yes 10m has been ridiculous, i worked into south america on like 5 watts last tuesday which i never thought id say with my setup. the cycle is really delivering right now. good time to be a ham for sure

the ARRL thing i think is about the petition to the FCC regarding technician HF privileges, thats been floating around forever and keeps coming back up. theres a camp that wants techs to get more access on like 40 and 15 meters and another group that thinks the current structure is fine. honestly as a fairly new tech myself i would love more HF access but i get why some people push back on it, its been debated for years from what i understand.

havent had a chance to get on 10m yet because ive been dealing with some RFI issues at my place but now im really motivated to sort that out before the conditions change
