anyone else just sit on 40m and listen for hours

so i was up late last night couldnt sleep and just threw on the headphones and tuned around 40 meters for like two hours just listening. didnt transmit at all. heard some guys ragchewing down in the carolinas, some CW i couldnt quite copy fast enough, and then this one dude running a net that sounded like it had been going on since maybe 1987 lol. the whole vibe of late night 40 was just really good idk. sometimes i think i get more out of just listening than actually getting on and talking. anybody else do this or am i just weird

oh man yeah all the time. 40 at like 1am is its own thing honestly. i used to do the same on 75 meters but thats gotten so weird and hostile lately that its not even fun to listen to anymore. 40 still has good people on it late night. sometimes i catch propagation going long and you start hearing stuff from the other side of the world just creeping in under the domestic stuff and thats when it gets really interesting. you're not weird, thats just how the hobby works for a lot of us i think

yeah i do this too but usually fall asleep with the radio on which probably isnt great for the rig lol. 40 is good. im still pretty new so i mostly just listen anyway trying to figure out how people actually talk on there vs what the books say
