anyone else just kind of drift away from the hobby for a while

so i was going through some old logs from like 2019 and realized i barely got on the air at all last year. life just kind of happens i guess. had the rig on a few times but never really made any meaningful contacts, just tuned around and went to bed. curious if this is common or if im the only one who goes through these stretches where the hobby just doesnt grab you the same way

not complaining really, just noticed it and figured id throw it out there. starting to get the itch again now that the solar cycle is picking up so maybe thats a good sign

oh man yeah absolutely. i went almost two full years barely touching my 7300 after we moved to a new house. partly the antenna situation was a mess, partly just other stuff going on. but honestly the solar flux creeping up has pulled me back in too, 10 meters has been nuts lately compared to what it was doing a few years ago. once you make a few good contacts it all comes back pretty quick i find

same honestly. sometimes i just listen for a while without transmitting and that kinda keeps me connected to it without the pressure of actually working anyone. its still the hobby even if youre just sitting there with headphones on poking around 40m at night
