N1MM vs Log4OM for everyday logging - does anyone actually switch between both

so ive been using N1MM for a while now mostly because thats what everyone told me to use when i got into contesting, and yeah its great for that, dont get me wrong. but outside of contest weekends it feels like overkill and honestly the interface is kind of a mess when youre just trying to log a few casual QSOs on a tuesday night.

started messing around with Log4OM a few months back and i actually really like it for day to day stuff. the logbook interface is way cleaner, it integrates with clublog and qrz without much fuss, and the awards tracking is something ive wanted for a while. but then a contest comes along and im back to N1MM because theres just no comparison for rate logging and the built in dupe checking during a pileup.

my question is does anybody actually run both side by side or have a workflow where they export from one into the other without losing anything. ive been manually exporting ADIF from N1MM after each contest and importing into Log4OM and it mostly works but ive had a couple weird issues with the timestamps being slightly off or some fields not mapping right. wondering if theres a better way or if im just stuck doing it the janky manual way forever

also side note - anyone tried keeping WSJT-X talking to Log4OM directly instead of routing it through N1MM? i know you can do it but wasnt sure if it caused problems during like a FT8 contest where youre trying to go fast

yeah i do almost exactly this. N1MM for any serious contesting, Log4OM for everything else. the ADIF export from N1MM is pretty clean in my experience but you have to watch out for the contest exchange fields - they sometimes end up in weird spots depending on the contest. i just do a quick sanity check in Log4OM after each import, spot check maybe 10 or 15 QSOs and make sure the bands and modes look right.

for the WSJT-X thing, i have it set to log directly to Log4OM via the UDP port on normal days, works fine. but during a contest i reroute it through N1MM using the second UDP port thing in WSJT-X settings. you can actually have WSJT-X send to two destinations at once which i didnt know for the longest time. so N1MM gets it for the contest dupe checking and Log4OM also gets it so my master log stays current. havent had any real problems with that setup honestly, occasional duplicate if i forget to clear something but its not a big deal to delete one entry.

the timestamp issue you mentioned is almost always a UTC vs local time thing. N1MM stores everything in UTC which is correct but depending on how your system clock is set and what Log4OM thinks your timezone is you can end up with QSOs shifted by however many hours your offset is. check the timezone settings in Log4OM under preferences, theres a specific option for how it handles imported ADIF timestamps. once i fixed that mine lined up perfectly.
