hey everyone, been having some weird power consumption problems with my little homebrew 20m rig. its supposed to draw like 250ma on receive but im seeing closer to 400ma even when im not touching anything. checked all my connections and they look fine but the battery pack just doesnt last as long as it should. anyone else run into this kind of thing? running it off a 4s lipo pack if that matters

could be a few things causing that extra drain. first thing id check is if you have any op amps or other always-on circuitry thats not being accounted for in your calculations. also check for any pull-up resistors that might be larger than they need to be. had a similar issue with my mountain topper and it turned out to be the display backlight circuit pulling way more than expected even when dimmed

Yeah this happened to me too with a kit i built last year. turned out the voltage regulator was getting warm and wasting power even though everything seemed normal. might want to check if anything is running hotter than it should be. also some of these qrp rigs have pretty optimistic power consumption specs from the manufacturer
