anyone going to the dayton hamvention this year or know of local swaps coming up

so my club is doing a table at the county fairgrounds swap meet next month and im trying to figure out if its worth hauling all my extra gear down there. last time i did one of these i barely broke even after the table fee but i did score a really clean TS-430S for like 40 bucks so i guess it evens out lol

anyway also curious if anybody here is making the trip to dayton this year, we used to go every year as a group but half the guys have either moved or just stopped coming to meetings so its kind of fallen apart. thinking about maybe going solo this time just to walk around and see whats there

yeah im planning on dayton, flying in thursday night and leaving sunday morning. its a long haul but honestly i go more for seeing people i only talk to on the air than the actual buying stuff. prices on the flea market floor have gotten pretty wild the last few years, guys googling stuff on their phones and pricing everything like its brand new

your local swap sounds worth doing though even if you dont make a ton, sometimes its just good to get the club visible in the community. we did one last fall and ended up with three new members just from people wandering over and asking questions

our club has a meeting next thursday if your anywhere near the springfield area, we usually do a show and tell type thing the third thursday of the month. nothing fancy but theres usually somebody bringing in something interesting to look at. had a guy last month with a vintage johnson viking he was restoring, pretty cool even if im more of a vhf guy
