IC-7760 finally announced - anyone else keeping an eye on this one?

so icom apparently made it official at hamvention this year, the 7760 is a thing now. ive been following the rumors for like two years and honestly wasnt sure if it was ever gonna happen. remote head design, looks like they really went all in on separating the control panel from the RF unit which is kind of a big deal if you have a weird shack setup like mine where the radio basically has to live in a closet because of space.

heard 20m has been absolutely bonkers this week too, we had a pretty solid opening toward europe yesterday morning around 0800 local and i worked a few stations i normally wouldnt even dream of getting through to with my setup. feels like the cycle is finally doing what everyone said it would. anyone else noticing the difference compared to even six months ago?

anyway curious what people think about the 7760, seems pricey but if the rx performance is anywhere near the 7851 im guessing its going to be popular with the serious contesters. or is everyone just gonna wait and see what the reviews say before pulling the trigger

yeah the remote head thing is genuinely useful, i had a 7100 for a while and ran it mobile with the head mounted on the dash and it worked pretty well. the 7760 looks like they took that concept and built a whole flagship around it which is interesting. not sure i can justify the price but ill definitely be watching the first hands-on videos when they start coming out.

and yes 20m has been wild, worked into japan last thursday on 100 watts and a dipole which basically never happens from here. solar flux was sitting around 210 that day which is just crazy compared to where we were a couple years ago. good time to be on HF honestly

im pretty new to all this, just got my general in march, so i dont totally understand all the specs yet but the remote head thing sounds cool for apartments? like could you put the radio somewhere else and just have the little screen part at your desk? asking because my landlord is already giving me grief about antennas so im trying to be sneaky about the whole setup lol. also what does solar flux mean, i keep seeing people mention it
