anyone else just kinda rediscovering the hobby lately

so i kind of fell off ham radio for like two years, life got busy, the rig sat in the corner collecting dust and i felt guilty every time i walked past it. finally sat down last weekend and just started spinning the dial on 40m and man i forgot how much i liked this. caught a guy in vermont on SSB just shooting the breeze about his garden for like 45 minutes. didnt log anything, didnt chase any awards, just talked. felt good.

anybody else go through phases like this or is it just me being weird about it

oh man yes, happens to me every winter. i get super into it around october when the bands start acting up again and then by february im barely touching the radio. i think its pretty normal honestly. the hobby will wait for you, thats kind of the nice thing about it

same thing happend to me after i moved last year, took me forever to get the antenna back up and i kept telling myself ill do it next weekend. finally got a simple wire up in the attic just to have something and yeah just listening for a bit brought it all back. sometimes you just need a slow QSO to remember why you got your ticket in the first place
