is the extra exam actually worth it or am i overthinking this

so ive been a general for about two years now and i keep going back and forth on whether to bother with the extra. like i know you get the extra spectrum privileges and all that but honestly i dont use half of what i have access to now. the main thing holding me back is the theory sections — the stuff about phase angles and filter design and whatever the smith chart questions are about. i passed my general without really understanding all of it and im worried extra is gonna be a whole other level of that.
does anyone actually use the advanced theory stuff in day to day operating or is it mostly just to say you passed the hardest test. genuinely asking because i dont want to spend three months studying for something that doesnt change how i operate at all. though i guess the cw sub-bands thing is appealing if i ever get serious about morse.
