so ive been a general for about two years now and i keep going back and forth on whether to bother with the extra. like i know you get the extra portions of HF and whatever but honestly i mostly just operate 20m and 40m ssb and i dont feel super limited right now. but then again i keep reading that you need it for some of the more advanced stuff and i guess the theory portion is actually interesting? idk
my buddy told me the extra exam is way harder than the general and covers a bunch of stuff like filter design and transmission line theory and i forget what else. is that actually true or is it more like the general where you kind of just memorize the pool and take it. and does the extra actually open up anything useful for a casual hf operator or is it more for the serious contesters and dx guys
genuinely not sure if i should just sit down and study or keep putting it off. anyone go through this recently
