Amateur Extra License Study Guide
The Amateur Extra license gives you full access to every amateur radio band and mode, along with the highest level of operating privileges available.
This guide explains the advanced concepts behind the Extra-level exam, including detailed electronics theory, complex circuits, advanced propagation, digital communication, antenna modeling, and the full set of FCC rules that apply to experienced operators.
Each lesson focuses on understanding how and why radio systems work at a deeper level. You’ll learn how to analyze circuits, interpret performance specifications, manage interference, and operate efficiently across the entire amateur spectrum.
At the end of each lesson, you’ll see every question that may appear on the exam for that topic. If you choose an incorrect answer, you’ll be guided to the exact section you need to review.
